Eastern Adventure Begins

On Thursday, March 31st   I got on a plane to Seoul, South Korea with a poor tempered boyfriend.  As we were cruising at a cool 35,000 feet I couldn’t help thinking this could be a huge disaster. I mean he did try to bail on me just one night before. I hate to say it but part of me thinks it was over money, lame! Needless to say that was stressful as fuck, but bygones, we were somewhere over the Atlantic already, no easy turning back now. The second our flight touched down I felt elated. Am I really in Korea?? I can’t say I ever thought I would be here and I feel good inside to just be on soil on the other side of the world. We arrived disheveled at our hotel to find our good friends waiting. They were ready to hit the town, and us not being ones to disappoint quickly put down our bags, washed our faces than ready!
Any imaginable snack for just a few Wan.
Bustling "Alley" filled with hungry youth.

Seoul is so civilized. A cleaner, more neon in parts, LA, but with five times the coffee shops. If Koreans love coffee, I love Koreans. Apparently as in LA, plastic surgery is huge here, but it’s not the breasts. I guess noses are universal, why do girls hate their noses so much? Unfortunately the eyes are the number one elected surgical choice. The much craved “double eyelid”  Oh western beauty standards how you are scarring the world.  My beautiful and intelligent friend said her mother offered to pay for the surgery for her. Being as smart as she is she opted out.
Much like in any large city the majority of people live in apartments and only the rich have houses with in the city limits. But make no assumptions, class distinction is not easily detected here. Walking the streets of Seoul almost everyone is well dressed and put together. Women adhere to panty hose and many men are in suits. Unlike LA on side streets of main boulevards with huge fancy malls you will find crowds walking in between street stalls selling jewelry, assorted skewers and even stewed silk worms. Young people shuffle between these on their way to their 1st or 2nd or maybe even 3rd  evening meal.  Seoul, you are first world with flair. Thanks Korea for the warm welcome, my in flight reservations are already melting away.
